Our mission is to empower and uplift Black individuals and families impacted by the child welfare system through prevention, intervention, preservation, and aftercare. We provide comprehensive resources and support across all aspects of life, creating a holistic, one-stop hub for education, advocacy, and community connection. Our goal is to ensure that every person has access to the tools they need to heal, thrive, and succeed.
Goals
- Educational Support:
- Facilitate access to historically accurate information and culturally responsive resources to enhance educational outcomes for Black children, including advocacy within schools for equity and representation, and creating opportunities—such as youth events and cultural celebrations—that affirm identity, build pride, and help prevent pathways leading to the school-to-prison pipeline.
- Provide community-based training and workshops addressing systemic and historical trauma, including professional development on trauma-informed practices, suicide prevention, and fostering resilience across generations.
- Develop and implement youth-centered programs focused on empowerment, healthy relationships, and positive decision-making, such as Juvenile Justice Training and initiatives that help children and teens build self-awareness, confidence, and advocacy skills.
- Advocacy:
- Inform and mobilize community members around laws and policies that affect the Black community, encouraging active participation in advocacy and organizing efforts.
- Connect individuals with doulas and advocates to support their healthcare needs, ensuring respectful and informed care during childbirth and other medical situations.
- Advocate for educational reform and raise awareness to prevent the school-to-prison pipeline through community engagement and policy initiatives.
- Community Building:
- Create safe and inclusive space for Black individuals and families to connect, share experiences, and foster a sense of belonging.
- Build a network of partnerships with organizations that share our mission, ensuring a collaborative approach to resource sharing and community support.
- Employment Training:
- Offer comprehensive training programs focused on soft skills, resume writing, cover letter development, and mock interviews to enhance employability.
- Provide resources in trade skills and self-employability to promote self-sustainability and enhance the economic well-being of the Black community.
Through comprehensive child welfare support—including prevention, preservation, intervention, and aftercare—we foster a resilient, informed, and connected Black community, paving the way for collective empowerment and lasting change.
